Xavier Garza-Galindo (1936-1986)
Xavier Garza-Galindo (1936-1986) was born and raised in Monterey Nuevo Leon, Mexico.  A very sensitive and artistic child, he began his career as an artist in dance.  As a teenager he went to New York and Chicago for several years where he studied and performed ballet.

In 1958 he returned to Monterey where he formed the Xavier Garza-Galindo Ballet Company which ran for nine years.  Xavier both choreographed and danced in the company and when he married, his wife Patricia Kennedy de Garza, created the stories and the costume design for the company.

In addition to time devoted to his ballet company, he also began to paint in Monterey.  In 1967 he left the ballet company and moved to Mexico City where he danced  in the
Ballet Folklorico. It was here, however, that he began to passionately pursue his painting, which would become the dominant theme in his life as an artist.

In 1970 he moved to West Virginia where the largest body of his artwork was created using a special technique of painting on canvas over which was stretched the finest quality panty hose.  This was called the "cobweb" technique which gave the image a rich and unique textural depth, and was an expression of this own individual style.

Xavier Garza-Galindo was a self-taught artist who used his creative genius to express his great love of beauty in works of art that have deeply spiritual and etheral universal quality.  The majority of his works are in private collections.
